Long Run Week 2

SUN Jul 6
Long Run 2 Long run. Overslept so didn't run until 9:30. 2hrs in the brutal heat and humidity. Had 2 of those power bar gel things...they made me so sick... Proud of myself for doing this run but it took a lot out of me..more than I expected.
Mood: Tired.
11.61 miles in 1:53:34 at 9:46 mins/ mile - Distance Run

Ok. So I was supposed to wake up at 4:30 this morning, but I took an Ambien..and didn't wake up until 7. I thought to myself I would skip this run or just delay to Monday morning. Either way I went out there.

Here is the route.

I was ok until I got downtown. That's when I had the first powerbar gel thing. I've tried some E-Gel before and never had any problems with those. Well from downtown back to the Tennis center at Memorial was horrible. I'm not sure if it was the Powerbar Gel the humidity or what. I ate sand again. I was trying to get some chewing gum out of my little pouch thing..and I hit a root..and I fell...broke my sunshades and everything. I'd taken another one of those gel things on the way back to Memorial and by the time my run was over I was so sick.

I hate throwing up. I didn't want to throw up so I laid down. I made it home but I kept gagging. I will avoid throwing up..I hate it..the anticipation the constant gagging. So when I got home I started chugging 7up to settle my stomach. Then I started cramping. Had lunch plans with family..and I was so sick I had to lay on the couch while everyone ate. The vicious spell was finally over by about 3. Now as I type this I am HUNGRY!!!

So what's up with those Power bar gels? Does anyone have problems with them? I've done the E-Gel as I mentioned before with no problems. Please let me know!!!

Ah another weird thing..is I've got this huge TAN. It was cloudy out and I put on BullFrog Sport..and I'm a dark skinned black man..and I have this major tan..it's funny my legs below the knee, and my feet or a totally different color. Used to happen all the time as a kid but not in a while..not since Cancun.

Prolonged amounts of physical activity often open up your mind. I thought about some of the weirdest stuff. I honestly don't think I can take another one of these humid Houston summers. I think I'm done. You may ask well what idiot trains for an early fall marathon in Houston? This idiot. I have to run a marathon with almost a 95% chance of cool weather. I won't ever commit to a full marathon in Texas because even though they are all in the winter you can never count on perfect marathoning conditions. I will do Half Marathon but will opt out of the full. So when all of you Runners start training for Chevron in September I'll be on my taper for Chicago. I wouldn't move somewhere just for better running conditions..there is a lot more involved, but I think a fresh start would be nice. 27 years of living in one place can get old after a while. Houston will always be home though. I'm doing my research now for a new home. If you know me you know what part of the Country I love...so you know where I am looking. It's a ways off from now so don't get scared, I'll still be around.

Run on
